In 2008 at the request of Lions International, District 33-A initiated the Lions Young Ambassador of the 21st Century award. We were extremely pleased with the response and quite astonished with the outstanding accomplishments of the applicants.
This is not a lot of work for your Club. You will find the instructions and form by clicking the button below. Please download the form, read the requirements, noting the deadlines, and offer this opportunity to your local High School. The award will be presented to the winning candidate at the Mid-Winter Saturday luncheon.
Here is the criterion for this year’s sponsorship
THE ONLY REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR CLUB ARE AS FOLLOWS:
This is not a lot of work for your Club. You will find the instructions and form by clicking the button below. Please download the form, read the requirements, noting the deadlines, and offer this opportunity to your local High School. The award will be presented to the winning candidate at the Mid-Winter Saturday luncheon.

- No Chairperson required.
- No Club judges or judging required.
- No composing instructions or filling out applications.
- No fee is required.
THE ONLY REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR CLUB ARE AS FOLLOWS:
- Provide the enclosed instructions and application form to the High School in your community.
- Present your candidate with a suitable cash award for being chosen as a Lions Young Ambassador of the 21st Century.
- Forward the completed application no later than Friday, December, 22, 2023.
- If your candidate is selected as the “Young Ambassador of the 21st Century” the Mid-Winter Conference Committee will be responsible for providing the candidate's meal expense at the Conference. Your club will be responsible for providing the meal expense for his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) during the Saturday noon luncheon at the Mid-Winter conference on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Anyone else that wishes to attend the ceremony will be welcome at their own expense.
BENEFITS FOR YOUTH
1. Present the school with the applications. Ask if they will choose the finalist. If not, have the applications submitted to your club with ample time to go over the applications and choose a winner.
2. The school’s deadline is Friday, December 15, 2023.
3. Send in your club’s finalist application to this committee on or before Friday, December 22, 2023 to:
- Encourages them to seek experience in community involvement and leadership
- Increases awareness of community service opportunities and organizations.
- Recognizes the value of their achievements.
- Furthers the Lions motto, “We Serve” by encouraging young people to pursue community service involvement.
- Renews Lions member’s enthusiasm and commitment to youth and service, through exposure to
- committed, enthusiastic young leaders.
- Strengthens public awareness of Lions and their youth and service initiatives.
- Introduces young people to future service and leadership opportunities

4. Your club’s involvement is completed unless your candidate is declared a winner.
The judging will proceed as follows:
The judging will proceed as follows:
- The committee will make copies of the applications and submit them to the 1st and 2nd Vice-District Governors and Committee Chairperson for their vote.
- 1st and 2nd Vice-District Governors and Committee Chairperson will score the applications according to the criteria provided by International.
- The scored applications will be sent back to the Committee Chairperson. Deadline is Friday, January 12, 2024.
- The Committee Chairperson will then calculate the scores and the winner will be chosen.
- The Committee Chairperson will then notify the Club whose applicant has won the award. This will include notifying the clubs whose candidate did not win.
The Young Ambassador of the 21st Century Award will be presented at the Lions Mid-Winter Conference Saturday noon luncheon on February 10, 2024. The winner will be presented with a plaque and a cash award. If the winning applicant is from your club the Mid-Winter Conference Committee will be responsible for providing the winning student's meal expense at the Conference. Your club will be responsible for providing the meal expenses for his/her parent(s) /guardian(s). Anyone else that wishes to attend the ceremony will be welcome at their expense.
