Donations in memory or honor of individuals may be made at any time. Specially printed envelopes are available. An acknowledgment is sent to the family of the deceased or the person being recognized. Joseph J. Camarda Fellowship
A recognition plaque and a lapel pin may be presented to a Lion or non-Lion for a $500.00 contribution. The sum of $500.00 can be made in 2 payments over 2 consecutive years if designated specifically. Progressive Joseph J. Camarda Fellowship An existing Joseph J. Camarda Fellow may be recognized for their continued service and dedication with a progressive recognition plaque and pin for a $500.00 contribution. The sum of $500.00 can be made in 2 payments over 2 years consecutive if designated specifically. Joseph J. Camarda Progressive Gold Fellowship Award A new level of distinction for the Joseph J. Camarda Fellowship Award. This award was created to honor those lions who are Progressive Award holders or individuals who exemplify the highest level of recognition for their continued services and dedicated humanitarian efforts toward the principles of lionism through home and community affairs. This award will have a new distinct plaque and will use the same gold pin with a diamond chip as the Progressive Joseph J. Camarda Fellowship Award. Cost is still $500.00 for this new award. The sum of $500.00 can be made in 2 payments over 2 years consecutive if designated specifically. All donations toward Joseph J. The District 33A Sight & Hearing Fund is a fund set up to assist District 33A Lions Clubs in obtaining Sight and Hearing assistance for citizens of their communities and is supported by District 33A club donations
HOW TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE A request for assistance shall be made by an officer of the individual Lions Club in the form of an Application for Assistance, which may be obtained from the Member At Large of the club’s zone. The application shall be completed and returned to the Member At Large who will present it to the Sight and Hearing Board for consideration. Thereafter, the Directors of the Fund may make such investigation as they deem suitable and the Directors shall thereafter approve or disapprove each request by vote. Joseph R. Protano Founders Award
The Joseph R Proton Award was established in the year 2000 when then Sight & Hearing President Joe Lambert and Past President PDG Bob Meunier were assigned the task of developing an award to honor the memory of the founder and Past President of the District 33A Sight & Hearing Conservation & Treatment Fund by the Board of Directors.
The Joseph R Protano Founders Award can be presented to any Lion or individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty and specifically demonstrated an ability to further the betterment or cure of those individuals who are afflicted with sight or hearing related disabilities. The first award was presented to Tillie Protano in February 2001 at the Mid-Winter conference in memory of her late husband PDG Joseph R. Protano. The award will be presented annually by the District 33A Sight & Hearing Conservation and Treatment Fund, Inc. at the Mid-Winter Conference in February, if a qualified recipient is approved by the Sight & Hearing Committee. A Resume along with any pertinent information or documentation is required by the committee for review. Nominations must be received by December 1st prior to the next Mid-Winter Conference.
